The Lower Plenty Cricket Club, in conjunction with Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia, conducts the MILO in2cricket program which is an introductory cricket program for boys and girls and All Abilities aged 5-8 years. The aim of the program is to introduce kids to the game of cricket in a format that is safe, activity skill based and lots of fun for the kids. It is also an opportunity to instill the “Spirit of Cricket” in kids from the very first experience. The “Spirit of Cricket” is fostered by the values that a coach, parent, player or official bring to the team, club and the game itself.
The In2Cricket program aims to cover a range of skills that are important to game development such as hitting a ball, catching, throwing, running, stopping, balance and co-ordination for varying individual skill and age levels. We also foster and encourage important social skills, including teamwork, co-operation, communication, fair play, acceptable standards of behaviour and positive relationships with others.
Parents are encouraged to come along and help. The involvement of parents is a key part of the program’s success.
The in2cricket program conducted by the Lower Plenty Cricket Club offers 12 – 1 hour sessions commencing in late October and concluding in February. Each 1 hour In2Cricket session is run on a Sunday morning at our ground. (Top Oval – Para Road). (Key Dates/Times to be advised)
